Excellent reels, excellent service and warranty, very high quality. I am ordering three more SDX in the 3-4 size since they are so close in size to the 5-6. My double xx rod in the 10, foot 5 wt for me, likes a 1.5 heavier line. I amrunning a anadro 1.5 heavy float line and your sink tip line throws well on it. The 5 wt maxxon floting line does not throw well for me. It works great on the aurelios 9 ft five wt rod

I have been fly fishing for over ten years, and through those ten years I have had experience with countless big name brands and their products. I picked up one of these on sale at scheels. The first outing I had with this reel was on the North Platte and it put in work all day long pulling 20 inch plus rainbows out of heavy current. The drag on this reel is so smooth and has so many micro adjustments its not even funny. The adjustment in the drag are so fine that you have extreme control over the situation. Fishing rivers requires the ability to have a drag that is dynamic because even in the same catch the fish has the ability to use the fast current, or go to slow water and stay deep, or turn around and make a rip down river, having the extreme adjustability is essential for fighting big fish on the river and this reel has mastered it. As a guy that has used several high dollar brand name reels I would feel confident putting this up against anything on the market. Hands down the best fly reel I have ever had and is now the go to.
